Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you use xopest.com, our customer and field mobile application, My Account, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
1. Who we are
XO Pest provides pest control services for homes and businesses in Illinois. Our legal entity is EXOPEST LLC.
Questions about this policy: info@xopest.com
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the Services, we may collect:
- Identity & contact data — name, email address, phone number, business name, and property or location contact details.
- Account data — login credentials, role (customer, technician, or office), and profile information linked to your account.
- Service & property data — service addresses, pest concerns, appointment history, service agreements, treatment records, invoices, referrals, and related notes.
- Photos & media — photos you or our technicians capture for service reports and job documentation (camera or photo library access is used only when you grant permission).
- Payment data — billing details processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Device & notification data — device push notification tokens and basic technical information needed to deliver appointment and service reminders when you enable notifications.
- Communications — messages you send us (for example inspection requests, support emails, or account inquiries).
- Advertising & measurement data — limited technical and conversion signals used to measure the effectiveness of our ads in ChatGPT / OpenAI Ads (for example, that a visitor submitted an inspection request or clicked our business phone link). See section 5 below.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, schedule, and document pest control services
- Create and manage customer, technician, and office accounts
- Process payments, agreements, invoices, and service guarantees
- Send service reminders, reports, and transactional messages
- Respond to inquiries and provide customer support
- Improve safety, security, and reliability of the Services
- Comply with law and Illinois structural pest control recordkeeping
- Measure and improve advertising performance (including attributing website actions to ChatGPT / OpenAI Ads campaigns)
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information with data brokers for their independent marketing lists. We do use advertising measurement technology as described in this policy.
4. How we share information
We may share information with:
- Service providers that help us operate the Services — for example cloud hosting and authentication (Google Firebase), payment processing (Stripe), and email or messaging delivery tools — under contracts that limit use to providing services to us.
- Advertising measurement partners — OpenAI (ChatGPT Ads Measurement Pixel / conversion measurement) receives conversion events and related technical identifiers so we can measure whether ads led to actions on our website. See section 5 for what we send and how automatic advanced matching may work.
- Our team — authorized office staff and technicians who need the information to perform or support your service.
- Legal & safety — when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, property, or safety.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
5. Advertising measurement
Our public website may load Google’s gtag (Google Ads) so we can measure advertising performance and conversions from Google Ads campaigns. Google may set or read cookies and similar technologies on your device for this purpose, subject to Google’s privacy policies.
Our public website may also load the OpenAI / ChatGPT Ads Measurement Pixel so we can measure whether ads shown in ChatGPT led to actions on xopest.com (for example, a completed free-inspection request or a click on our business telephone link). This helps us understand advertising performance; a phone-link click does not mean a call was completed or connected.
We ask for your choice before advertising measurement is enabled. On first visit (or until you choose), our site calls the OpenAI pixel’s documented consent control to keep measurement off, then initializes the pixel. If you select Accept, we enable measurement for future events and store your choice in your browser (local storage key xo_pest_openai_ads_consent). If you select Reject, measurement stays off, measurement cookies are cleared under OpenAI’s documented behavior, and we store that preference the same way. Events blocked while measurement is off are not replayed after a later Accept.
When measurement is enabled, the pixel may set first-party cookies on our domain, including __oppref (stores an OpenAI click reference from the landing URL when present, for attribution) and __obref (a randomly generated browser reference). You can review this Privacy Policy for more detail, or contact us using the details below if you have questions about your choice.
The conversion events we intentionally send from our website code (such as a successful inspection request or a business phone-link click) do not include your name, email address, or phone number as event parameters. Depending on OpenAI account settings, the pixel may also use automatic advanced matching, which can detect supported customer information already present on the page, hash it in the browser with SHA-256, and include those hashes with measurement events (raw values are not sent through that feature).
OpenAI’s processing of measurement data is also subject to OpenAI’s own terms and privacy documentation for advertisers and their measurement products.
6. Mobile app permissions
Our iOS/Android app may request access to the camera, photo library, and notifications. These permissions are used to attach service photos and send appointment or service reminders. You can deny or revoke permissions in your device settings; some features may then be unavailable.
7. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services, maintain service and regulatory records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it where practicable.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including authenticated access controls and encrypted transit where supported by our providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. Children’s privacy
The Services are intended for adults and business users. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided information to us, contact info@xopest.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
10. Your choices & rights
Depending on applicable law, you may request to:
- Access or correct personal information we hold about you
- Update account details in My Account or the mobile app
- Opt out of non-essential marketing emails (transactional service messages may still be sent)
- Request deletion of your account data, subject to legal retention needs — see Delete your account & data
To make a request, use https://xopest.com/delete-account or email info@xopest.com.
11. Third-party links
The Services may link to third-party sites or payment pages (such as Stripe Checkout). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” above will change when we post updates. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
